Mammoet, a global service provider specialising in engineered heavy lifting and transport, has appointed two senior industry executives in Abu Dhabi, Enrico Luconi Trombacchi and Vimal Jose.
Trombacchi, who has previously held executive roles in the heavy lift and transport industry in the Middle East and North Africa, will head Mammoet's UAE branch, while Jose will be representing Mammoet as Operations Manager in Abu Dhabi.
These appointments come at a time when the UAE is seeing an influx of new investments into its oil and gas, power, water and transportation sectors, says Mammoet.
These investments have the potential to increase construction activity, making UAE a hot spot for logistics projects for the coming years, said the Netherlands-based company.
As heavy lifting and transport play a pivotal role in industrial construction projects, Mammoet is gearing up in Abu Dhabi to facilitate these ambitious plans, it added.
"Both Trombacchi and Jose will bring great energy and enthusiasm to their roles, along with strategic industry experience specific to Abu Dhabi," said Martijn Kuipers, the managing director for Mammoet Middle East and Africa.
"The addition of these two new members is in line with our commitment to continue as the reliable and trusted heavy lift and transport service provider of choice in the UAE," he added.
"We remain dedicated to delivering within the time frames set, reducing costs and ensuring an overall smooth, safe and timely execution of any project," he said.
As the first company of its type to establish offices in the emirates in 1976, Mammoet have been involved in some of the most iconic projects in the region such as Burj Al Arab, Dubai Metro, Dubai Mall, Ain Dubai observation wheel, Abu Dhabi Airport.

DECATHLON ROLLS OUT PARCEL LOCKERS IN BELGIUM

Sports retailer Decathlon is working with bpost subsidiary Cubee to roll out parcel collection lockers at its stores in Belgium. The sports retailer and bpost are introducing collection points at 12 stores across Belgium by the end of 2019. The first points will be at stores in Maasmechelen and Olen, with Antwerp and Wavre to follow in the short term. The machine in the car park of the Maasmechelen store has 58 individual lockers. Built by Cubee, the technology allows customers to collect and return online orders from certain internet shops. Customers are sent an email or SMS with the collection code once the courier places the order in the Cubee parcel machine. In the future, Decathlon wants to use the machines to offer a same-day click and collect service.
