Mammoet mobilizes high capacity barge as demand grows in Middle East

The global leader in engineered heavy lifting and transport further strengthens its marine services by bringing back its barge to the GCC market.
The barge, loaded with cargo, has arrived to Ras Al-Khaimah port after a 2 year assignment in the Far East. In 2015 the barge was utilised for the transport of legs and spindle of the observation wheel - Ain Dubai.

This flat-top barge, measuring 100m x 30m x 6.1m (331ft x 100ft x 20ft) and a deck strength of 25 MT/m2, was specifically built for Mammoet and is able to carry heavy and oversized cargo.
It will complement Mammoet’s heavy lifting and transport fleet in the Middle East and further enhance its capabilities to provide turnkey solutions for projects in the region.
Michel Bunnik, commercial director - Mammoet Middle East and Africa, said: “The Middle East market remains buoyant, specifically with the upcoming major developments such as ADNOC’s major upstream and downstream investments and the offshore developments in Saudi Arabia. Offshore transport will be crucial for these projects, which will require high capacity modes of transport.”

Saudia's cargo unit adds two planes to fleet

Two new B747-400 freighters increases fleet to 15; will be used in cargo charter market The cargo unit of Saudi Arabian Airlines is expanding its dedicated fleet with the arrival of two B747-400 freighters. Saudia Cargo's latest additions will form part of its 15-strong fleet, the carrier said in a statement. Of these aircraft, 12 will be used for Saudia's scheduled services to 27 freighter destinations worldwide, while its charter business will benefit from three dedicated B747 freighters. Steven Peter Scholten, vice-president Commercial at Saudia Cargo, said: "A 15-strong fleet with 12 aircraft being utilised for scheduled services, while the 3 dedicated charter aircraft will offer our clients more capacity in the ad-hoc charter market.
