Chinese airline set to launch flights to Dubai

China Eastern Airlines will start UAE route this month. Share by  ASC Staff Sun 31 Jan 2010 12:39 PM China Eastern Airlines is set to launch a new route to Dubai from the southwestern Chinese city of Kunming, the Xinhua News Agency has reported. The airline, one of the largest in China, will operate the service three times a week from February 22, it said. A 260-seat Boeing 767-300 aircraft will be used for the service and the flight to Kunming will take seven hours. Only one of the three weekly flights, on Mondays, will be direct. The Wednesday and Saturday flights will have a stopover in the Bangladeshi capital of Dacca, which will add an extra hour to the flight. "The opening of the new air route will help increase the contacts between China and Dubai," an airline spokesperson said.

The 190-seat aircraft is expected to be in service by 2016, mostly with domestic customers. According to CAPA, Boeing expects Chinese carriers will order around 2600 new single-aisle aircraft in the next 20 years, potentially a US$200 billion.

China’s flag carrier Air China said its net profit increase was a result of membership of the Star Alliance, an international airline grouping of 18 aviation companies. SF Airlines launches route connecting China, Kazakhstan

The route is the airline’s  first dedicated freighter flight directly connecting China to Kazakhstan  and supports China’s development of its “Belt and Road” initiative. SF Airlines will fly the new route twice weekly using a 757-200F, with a maximum load capacity of 28 tonnes, according to Xinhua. The flight is expected to carry general cargo, according to the carrier.
