PALLETWAYS: NEW CEO ANNOUNCED

Palletways: new CEO announced 

European pallet network Palletways Group Limited, has announced the retirement of its current Chief Executive Officer, James Wilson, on 1 July 2019.
Wilson’s place will be taken by Palletways Chief Operating Officer, Luis Zubialde, who has worked at the company since 2006. Wilson will continue as a consultant to the company, and to its owner Imperial Logistics International.
Imperial Logistics International CEO Hakan Bicil says: “We would like to thank James Wilson for his long-standing service and commitment, and the pioneering work that he has undertaken for the Palletways Group. We wish him a very happy and well-deserved retirement, and I am delighted that we shall still be able to call upon his extensive knowledge and experience in the future.”
Michael Sterk has also been appointed to the newly-created post of Chief Commercial Officer of the Palletways Group, effective 1 July 2019.
Sterk has worked for Imperial Logistics since 2009, most recently as Director Business Unit Retail & Consumer Goods. He will report both to Palletways CEO Luis Zubialde and to Imperial Logistics International Chief Commercial Officer Sandro Knecht.
The new Palletways Group executive board will comprise Luis Zubialde (CEO), Richard Myatt (who remains as Chief Financial Officer), Thomas Olsson (who remains as Chief Information Officer) and Michael Sterk (CCO).
Palletways is Europe’s largest pallet network, with over 400 depots strategically located throughout 24 countries, delivering up to 45,000 pallets daily.

DECATHLON ROLLS OUT PARCEL LOCKERS IN BELGIUM

Sports retailer Decathlon is working with bpost subsidiary Cubee to roll out parcel collection lockers at its stores in Belgium. The sports retailer and bpost are introducing collection points at 12 stores across Belgium by the end of 2019. The first points will be at stores in Maasmechelen and Olen, with Antwerp and Wavre to follow in the short term. The machine in the car park of the Maasmechelen store has 58 individual lockers. Built by Cubee, the technology allows customers to collect and return online orders from certain internet shops. Customers are sent an email or SMS with the collection code once the courier places the order in the Cubee parcel machine. In the future, Decathlon wants to use the machines to offer a same-day click and collect service. Saudia Cargo has successfully provided all its logistical capabilities to bring the WWE wrestling ring equipment of the show that were forwarded by Sound Moves via Saudia Cargo freighters Share by  Logistics Middle East Staff Wed 12 Jun 2019 04:13 PM Saudi Airlines Cargo Company transported 175 Tons of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) equipment all the way to Jeddah, from Maastricht in the Netherlands for the WWE event that took place at King Abdullah Sports City in June. Saudia Cargo has successfully provided all its logistical capabilities to bring the WWE wrestling ring equipment of the show that were forwarded by Sound Moves via Saudia Cargo freighters. Boeing 747-8s & Boeing 777s carrying total tonnages of 175 tons delivered the cargoes in May.
