Saudia Cargo signs deal to grow West Africa services

Airline signs new partnership with UAE's Fast Forward Cargo.

Saudi Airlines Cargo Co has said it has strengthened its relationship with Fast Forward Cargo in the UAE by increasing its frequencies to West Africa from Dubai World Central.
Under an agreement signed by both parties, the new partnership will operate what is equivalent to 175 combined B747 flights between the UAE and West Africa, connecting mainly to Lagos in Nigeria and N'Djamena in Chad via Saudia Cargo's hubs in Riyadh and Jeddah.
"The renewal of the contract with Fast Forward further strengthens our position in the UAE to Africa air cargo market," said Peter Scholten, VP Commercial at Saudia Cargo.
"The weekly commitment from Fast Forward is an important client on our 2 weekly freighter flights to N'Djamena and a large contributor to our daily freighter flights to Lagos."
"Saudia Cargo has been instrumental in helping us reach a dominant position in West Africa where, over the last five years, we have grown to be one of the biggest logistics solutions providers from our base in Sharjah and Dubai," said Al Ameen, CEO of Fast Forward.
"We are honoured to have been awarded a further contract extension by the airline and see Saudia's confidence as a reward for the commitment shown by our staff and the company overall," he added.
Saudi Airlines Cargo Company operates scheduled freighter services with 13 freighters and sells the belly-capacity on 145 passenger aircraft for Saudi Arabia's flag carrier Saudia, spanning a rapidly expanding global network of 225 destinations.
Fast Forward Cargo is part of the Fast Forward Group. Headquartered in Dubai, it is one of the leading freight forwarders to the West African market.

DECATHLON ROLLS OUT PARCEL LOCKERS IN BELGIUM

Sports retailer Decathlon is working with bpost subsidiary Cubee to roll out parcel collection lockers at its stores in Belgium. The sports retailer and bpost are introducing collection points at 12 stores across Belgium by the end of 2019. The first points will be at stores in Maasmechelen and Olen, with Antwerp and Wavre to follow in the short term. The machine in the car park of the Maasmechelen store has 58 individual lockers. Built by Cubee, the technology allows customers to collect and return online orders from certain internet shops. Customers are sent an email or SMS with the collection code once the courier places the order in the Cubee parcel machine. In the future, Decathlon wants to use the machines to offer a same-day click and collect service.
