TradeLens Caps Blockchain Initiative

In an effort to apply blockchain to the world’s global supply chain, Maersk Line and IBM have collaborated to develop TradeLens, a blockchain-enabled shipping solution to promote more efficient and secure global trade, bring together supply chain partners to support information sharing and transparency, and encourage industry-wide innovation.
To date, 94 companies are actively involved or have agreed to participate in the TradeLens early adopter program. Among them are about 20 global port and terminal operators, and approximately 234 marine gateways worldwide. Pacific International Lines joins Maersk and Hamburg Süd as global container carriers participating in the solution.
Freight forwarders, third-party logistics providers including Agility, CEVA Logistics, DAMCO, Kotahi, PLH Trucking Company, Ancotrans and WorldWide Alliance are currently participating, as well as customs authorities in the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Australia and Peru.

TradeLens uses IBM blockchain technology as the foundation for digital supply chains, empowering multiple trading partners to collaborate by establishing a single, shared view of a transaction without compromising details, privacy, or confidentiality.
Real-time access to shipping data and shipping documents—including IoT and sensor data ranging from temperature control to container weight—enables shippers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, port and terminal operators, inland transportation carriers and customs authorities to interact more efficiently. By using blockchain smart contracts, TradeLens enables digital collaboration across the multiple supply chain partners involved in global trade.

DECATHLON ROLLS OUT PARCEL LOCKERS IN BELGIUM

Sports retailer Decathlon is working with bpost subsidiary Cubee to roll out parcel collection lockers at its stores in Belgium. The sports retailer and bpost are introducing collection points at 12 stores across Belgium by the end of 2019. The first points will be at stores in Maasmechelen and Olen, with Antwerp and Wavre to follow in the short term. The machine in the car park of the Maasmechelen store has 58 individual lockers. Built by Cubee, the technology allows customers to collect and return online orders from certain internet shops. Customers are sent an email or SMS with the collection code once the courier places the order in the Cubee parcel machine. In the future, Decathlon wants to use the machines to offer a same-day click and collect service. Saudia Cargo has successfully provided all its logistical capabilities to bring the WWE wrestling ring equipment of the show that were forwarded by Sound Moves via Saudia Cargo freighters Share by  Logistics Middle East Staff Wed 12 Jun 2019 04:13 PM Saudi Airlines Cargo Company transported 175 Tons of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) equipment all the way to Jeddah, from Maastricht in the Netherlands for the WWE event that took place at King Abdullah Sports City in June. Saudia Cargo has successfully provided all its logistical capabilities to bring the WWE wrestling ring equipment of the show that were forwarded by Sound Moves via Saudia Cargo freighters.
